Lorde’s sophomore album is almost finished

It’s been three years since alt-pop wunderkind Lorde released her acclaimed debut Pure Heroine, and fans have been craving new music. Unfortunately, the wait isn’t quite over yet, but this week, the Kiwi songwriter revealed that her second album is nearly complete. When Instagram user Gabatron9 commented on one of Lorde’s photos, “Do you think we will ever get another album or should we just give up on you as an artist?" Lorde responded, "Give up on me if you want to! I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and it's all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork. The record is written, we're in the production stage now. I've worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys."

New Kings of Leon album announced

This week, Kings of Leon announced that they’ll be releasing their seventh album, entitled Walls, on October 14th! Walls, the band’s first LP since 2013’s Mechanical Bull, is bound to feature a different sound; the band members moved to LA and switched producers to record it. In an interview with Billboard, the musicians explain that their relationship with their old producer had become too comfortable. Their new producer, Markus Dravs, wasn’t afraid to be a bit, er, intense to get KOL to create the best songs possible: “He just said things that nobody had ever said to us,” says bassist Jared Followill. “Like, 'I don't like that song, that's not good, we can move on from that.'” What’s more, Dravs had the musicians continually replay songs, quickly scrap and rewrite verses, and experiment with the feel of a track. “He'd be like, 'OK, now play it like The Sex Pistols,'” Followill recounts. "And then you've turned a slow song into a fast one.” With such an unconventional recording process, Walls is sure to reveal a Kings of Leon that’s better than ever.

Then, they debuted “High and Low” and “Two Vines”—two tracks from the LP—a day apart. EOTS fans, rejoice! Check out “High and Low” below.
