Blink-182 Release New Album
Blink-182 has released California, their seventh studio album and the first without former guitarist Tom DeLonge. It features the leading single “Bored to Death,” which is the band’s first song to hit No. 1 on the alternative charts in over twelve years, granting them the record of having the second-longest period ever between getting a top song on the chart.
Apple in Talks with Tidal
Apple is reportedly in negotiation to acquire Tidal, Jay Z’s music streaming service. The website focuses on offering higher quality recordings and featuring exclusive releases from top artists. Last year, Jay Z purchased the company for $56 million.
New Music Video from The Lumineers
The new music video for the Lumineers’ single “Cleopatra” is out. The story centers around a taxi driver who is reminded of her past with each person who sits in the backseat. It features a short cameos from each of the band members themselves at an airport.
Bastille Announces Tour and Album Release Date
After the release of the new single “Good Grief” and its controversial music video earlier this month, Bastille has announced that their second album, Wild World, will be releases September 9. They are heading out on an arena tour in parts of the US and the UK to support the new record.
Album Sales at Record Low
Album sales are at a record low yet again, dropping 16.9 percent so far this year. Despite this decline, album consumption is rising, up 8.9 percent. These changes can largely be attributed to the dramatic increase in popularity of music streaming services.
