Florence Welch sings Shakespearean Sonnet in New Collaboration
Florence + The Machine frontwoman Florence Welch throws it back to the 16th century with Rufus Wainwright in a new song, in which she sings one of Shakespeare’s poems! Wainwright’s forthcoming album, Take All My Loves: 9 Shakespeare Sonnets, is a 16-track collection of old Will’s sonnets set to music, and features celebrities like Helena Bonham Carter, Carrie Fisher, William Shatner, and, of course, Florence Welch. On Florence’s cut, she croons poignant lines from the classic “When in Disgrace with Fortune and Men’s Eyes” with her trademark resonance.
