Alabama Shakes Win Big at the 58th Grammys
Alabama Shakes had a big night on Monday, taking home the Grammy awards for Best Alternative Music Album (Sound & Color), Best Rock Performance (“Don’t Wanna Fight”), and Best Rock Song (“Don’t Wanna Fight”). The band later made their Grammy performance debut with a potent delivery of their winning song, “Don’t Wanna Fight”. During her acceptance speech, powerhouse vocalist Brittany Howard spoke to how the band never dreamed that they would achieve success like this when they first started the band back in high school.
Hozier Releases “Cherry Wine” Music Video
Irish singer-songwriter Hozier did some good this Valentine’s Day, releasing the music video for “Cherry Wine”. The video, starring Saoirse Ronan and Moe Dunford, depicts the cycle of an abusive relationship in order to raise awareness of domestic violence. Hozier says “With the song ‘Cherry Wine,’ I tried to get across the difficulty of coming to terms with and facing up to domestic violence and the dynamic of an abusive relationship.” All proceeds from the single download of “Cherry Wine” will benefit a series of domestic violence charities worldwide.
Sofar Sounds Hosts Secret Show at WBRU
WBRU had a special Valentine's Day with the help of Sofar Sounds, who held their second show of February at the station. Featuring Hayley Sabella, Lost Cousins, and Lawrence (feat. FKA Twigs Releases “Good to Love” Music Video
Exposure artist FKA Twigs released a semi-claustrophobic music video for “Good to Love” on Thursday. The intimate video includes lots of rolling around in the sheets with the British singer, set in black and white. She’ll perform the single on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon next Wednesday, February 24.
M83 Expand 2016 Tour
Since M83 are right on the verge of releasing a new album, the band announced this past week that they will add new North American dates to their 2016 tour. Although they won’t make their way around us this time around, we can expect M83’s “strong and eclectic” seventh album soon.
