Announcing: SCS18 Lineup!
The WBRU Summer Concert Series, one of the premier music events in Providence, returns for its 2018 run on Labor Day weekend. We’re partnering with The Rosendale Group to present our FREE outdoor concert series in downtown Providence on Friday August 31, 6pm-12am; Saturday, Sept. 2, 4pm-12am; and Sunday, September 2, 2pm-10pm. All performances will take place on Union St. in the heart of downtown Providence.
Admission is free for everyone and the concerts will be held outdoors, block party style, on Union Street, with food and drink available for purchase.
This year’s Summer Concert Series is incredibly special. For the first time, the SCS lineup will include both alternative artists and hip hop and R&B artists. We’re excited to involve 360 in curating the lineup, expanding beyond our traditional headliners and highlighting up and coming artists across different genres.
See below for our first round of artist announcements, and check back here for real time updates.
Senior Discount are a local artist who tap in the SoCal skate-punk vibes that go perfectly with the summer heat. They released a new album, The Best Revenge, just this year, and will bring a fun intensity to the SCS stage.
Khary gives fans a wild mix of fun, carefree tracks as well as darker ones with a ghostly production. Khary paves the way for a new sound in hip hop, and we can’t wait to see his raw emotion at this year’s SCS before he heads off on his national tour.
Fiercely political and joyously loud, Stuyedeyed are a fuzzed-out punk band from Brooklyn. They bring energy and power to SCS with tracks like “Gun” and “Believer,” and will rock your socks off with their fresh take on a retro sound.
Flawless Real Talk
Flawless has epitomized his ability to captivate his fans through his story-telling lyrics. This young sensation brings his music to life with every performance. Recently awarded a plaque memorializing 25 million streams on Spotify, Flawless gives us the chance to hear his new project 20flaw7 live at our summer concert series.
TOMI joins the SCS 2018 lineup prepped with an arsenal of arena-ready synthpop jams. Her buzzworthy singles have listeners excitedly awaiting her debut full-length album, making right now the perfect time to hop on the TOMI train.
Atlanta-based rapper Quentin Miller joins us this year to show off his knack for lyricism. Having just dropped his latest project Q.M., Quentin flexes a calm but charismatic delivery, combined with his collection of “Hot N’ Cold” instrumentals.
