i ated a mouse for launch

The new wbru.com is here.

Thousands of artists have visited our building over the 37 years we’ve been broadcasting rock. Onair, you only hear a fragment of the beauty/madness that we do while hanging out with them. Even what you do hear is temporary - once the broadcast is over, poof, its gone forever.

The new wbru.com hopes to change that - we’ll bring you in on the whole experience, and preserve it on the site.

Look forward to gobs of exclusive stuff on this site, updated regularly. Audio/Video of interviews, performances, bands hanging out in the station, and all the other wacky stuff we can muster. Of course, we plan to create audio/video with bands JUST for this website.

We’ll also have contests, music news, concert announcements, national/local/sports updates from our News team, and whatever other lol/lulz worthy stuff the internet coughs our way. Everything you already go to wbru.com for, plus a good deal more.

We’ve formatted our existing podcasts to the blog, you can find them under the “Podcast” tag in the tags listing, located to the right.

Pardon the roughness of our edges, we’re refining this beast as we go. Let us know any suggestions you have. Now, you better get your helmet on.

colin with kids

Colin from Radiohead and their producer, Nigel Godrich collaborated with a children’s charity arts organization in the UK. Said collaboration involved the children recording something for Radiohead’s next album. Rumor has it their 7th LP won’t have be out until 2008, but perhaps we can look forward to a epic children’s choir, or samples of british nursery rhymes. Now we play the waiting game…. To hell with the waiting game, I’m going to play hungry hungry hippos.

Tony Wilson passes

Posted by Chris @ 4:17 pm on August 11, 2007

Tony Wilson passed away yesterday at age 57. Tony was instrumental in the ascent of so many influential bands (think: Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays). He was a music journalist, band manager, and label owner in Manchester, England. 24 Hour Party People is a damned entertaining movei that chronicles some of his most famous efforts. Learn more about Tony at his wiki. He will be missed by so many.
