Congratulations to our 2016 Rock Hunt Finalists! Join WBRU at the Met Saturday, March 19, to see these bands compete for over $3,500 worth of prizes for you, including recording time and the opportunity to play some of WBRU’s biggest events in 2016! For now, here are your 2016 Finalists:

 

Oliver Penn
RH2016-Oliver Penn-SemifinalsOliver Penn and the Crystal Shivers is an independent, 5-piece, indie/rock group based in Providence. The five members–Oliver (guitar, vocals), Nate (bass), Kieran (drums), Mike (saxophone), and Kyle (trumpet)–met playing together in jazz band, funk band, and other ensembles through Providence College’s music program. They discovered their true sound and completed the band at the end of 2015. They have performed at a show at Simon’s 677 and the Met, as well as on campus events at Providence College such as ‘PC’s Got Talent’.. Oliver Penn and the Crystal Shivers have recorded their EP Runaway which will be released on March 18.

Le Roxy Pro

Formed in November of 2014. Le Roxy Pro competed in the 2015 Rock Hunt & in the O Rock and Roll Rumble. Le Roxy Pro has been placed in Marc Jacobs and Hollister commercials in 2015. They’ve played numerous shows in New England including the WBRU Summer Concert Series in 2015. Currently working on a new record in their band member’s studio, Ugly Duck Studios, in Boston.

Eric and the Nothing

Eric and The Nothing are previous Home Bru’d performers. They’ve been playing out extensively both locally and non-locally. They have shared the stage with Atlantic Thrills and more. The currently have one 4 song EP and another one in the works.

Young Lincoln

RH 2016 Young LincolnYoung Lincoln, an indie alt-punk band from Thompson, CT, formed formed a little over a year ago in 2014.  Andy (vocals, guitar) and Jake (vocals, bass) met one summer, and they jammed together before deciding to start a band. Joey (drums) joined, and eventually so did Luke (synth, guitar). They have recorded a four song EP and have played shows in Providence at AS220 and Firehouse 13. They have also played in Connecticut at The Space. They recently finished their second EP.
