Favorite song:
Way too hard, but maybe The Velvet Underground – “Sweet Jane”.
Top 5 bands
The Clash, The Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, The Avett Brothers, Nirvana.
Top 5 CDs:
Dude Ranch/ Blink 182, What’s the Story (Morning Glory)?/ Oasis [first two--so much nostalgia], Fashion Nugget/ Cake, Reinventing Axl Rose/ Against Me!, Doolittle/ Pixies
Favorite concert/festival ever:
The World/Inferno Friendship Society (yeah, yeah, no one’s ever heard of them, but still…) on 2/1/08 in NYC. They’re the weirdest/most energetic/insane live band I have ever seen (possible exception, the Viennagram), plus I gave the lead singer a hug and stage dove at that show. It was the best.
Best part of being a DJ:
Entertaining callers, listening to the tunes.
Best experience from working at WBRU:
Free Passion Pit tickets was pretty ill.
What do you think about right before you go on-air?
What I’m going to say.
What is the craziest call you’ve ever had?
Occasionally people ask me out… which is weird… but I guess I’m flattered? (Sometimes?)
Cartoon?
South Park.
Batman or Superman? (or Boba Fett?)
> Fish or Bird? (Batman)
hottest dj

Hey Lisa,
Saw your favorite tunes list…confident you’ll like this….please check this out:
Our single hits # 1 last week on WDMT, the Mountain 102.3 FM, Wilkes-Barre, Penn. Moving from #37 to #1 in a week…beating out Alice in Chains for the top spot.
With the smallest bare bones promo budget in the past couple of weeks they get airplay on and/or are added to WRXP (NYC), WZGC (Atlanta), WEND (Charlotte), WBJB and WDHA (New Jersey), KMTT (Seattle), WPXC (Cape Cod), KCKK (Minnesota), WRRV (Newburg), WZNE, WBER & WBZA (Rochester).
Their new single debuts at #5 on Clear Channel’s New Rock Artist to Watch List and currently sits at # 2 on that list: http://www.iheartradio.com/new2/discover/index.html?format=193
The single God with a Gun by the Jet Black Berries is a powerful hook laden tome with a perfect message for the times we live in. Dark dark dark…an all out nondenominational sonic assault on those who try to unite religion and violence as an excuse to commit horrific acts on their fellow human beings. In other words its the rarest of songs these days….a kick ass rocker with a message that matters. (As an added bonus it has a dark Halloween vibe!!!)
The tune is available for download at PlayMPE:http://plaympe.com/
The band’s promo page is here: http://promo.jetblackberries.com/
If you’d like a hard copy of the single, an Mp3 sent to you, or if there is anything the Jet Black Berries can do for the station (free CD’s, voice ID’s, shows) just say the word.
cheers,
Roy (lowly drummer)
